Exercise for a failure” features an exhausted bovine, returning from a prolonged and grueling process of exploitation, seeking solace in a thin fragment of shadow created between its snout and the floor it faces. The sculptural body of this head appears empty, almost fragile, as if it were incomplete, fragmented, and dried.
From above, an IV drip extends into the sculpture, symbolizing a desperate attempt to sustain life. Water slowly drips onto the floor through a cow’s eye, objectifying its pain in unnecessary tears that evaporate, leaving streaks on the concrete. This slow and deliberate process accentuates the sense of futility and despair inherent in the work.
The sculpture's intricate detailing emphasizes the bovine's vulnerability and suffering, capturing the physical and emotional toll of exploitation. The hollowed, fragmented form suggests a loss of essence, while the IV drip and evaporating tears create a haunting visual of life slipping away. This piece invites viewers to reflect on the relentless exploitation of animals and the broader implications for our world.
